Η κατανόηση των έμφυλων διαστάσεων του χώρου και του χρόνου της καθημερινής ζωής, του δομημένου περιβάλλοντος και της πόλης αποτελεί σταθερό ζητούμενο στον σχεδιασμό, αγκιστρωμένο σε στερότυπες αντιλήψεις. Οι διαστάσεις του φύλου στο σχεδιασμό παραβλέπονται και επανέρχονται διαρκώς σε νέες μορφές και σχήματα, όρια και πεδία, νοητικές κατασκευές.

Dr.-Ing. Sandra Huning is spatial planner and urban sociologist at the Urban and Regional Sociology department of the Faculty of Spatial Planning, Dortmund University of Technology. Her research interests are urban sociology and urban gender studies as well as planning theories and planning sociology. Research topics include: Gender, diversity and socio-spatial inequalities in urban development and planning; target group-oriented planning and participation; and appropriation of public spaces. Since 2003, she has been a member of the editorial board of the German book series “Planungsrundschau” (Planning Review). From 2008-2018, she was a member of the Women’s Advisory Council of the Senate Department for Urban Development Berlin and from 2015-2018 of the International Working Group “Gender in Spatial Development” at the German Academy for Spatial Research and Planning (ARL).
