Dr Maria Karagianni is an Adjunct Lecturer and Postdoctoral Researcher at the School of Regional Planning and Development, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She studied Architecture at AUTh and completed her masters on Global Urban Development and Planning at the University of Manchester. She was awarded her PhD after the completion of her thesis, for which she was awarded a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) was entitled “The Urban Political Ecology of the Commons: the production of green public spaces in Thessaloniki”, in AUTh in 2019. Mari has worked as an architect and urban planner in the public and private sector, and as a researcher in projects at AUTh and UoM. She has published in international peer-reviewed journals and has participated in several international conferences. Her research interests include the urban environment, the urban commons, public space and housing.
